Introducing our NEW Performance Tennis Coach

Happy New Year All

Following the departure of Neil Bamford a while ago, we have been looking to find a suitable replacement who can build on the work that Neil began. We have been looking for a person who is not only a Performance Coach, but can oversee all aspects of the coaching and current club coaches and activities.

In this respect we am delighted to formally introduce Neil Murphy who will be starting at the club on 3rd January 2017. Neil began his junior tennis career at Coolhurst Tennis Club, under Chris Maher, a highly respected junior coach he won two Middlesex County Championships U21 and has also won the Middlesex Mens County Championship. He has played for Middlesex in the County Cup at both Senior and Junior level. Neil also spent time in America playing college tennis at the University of Florida and worked with the Florida Regional USTA. On returning to the UK in 1998 he worked at David Lloyd Finchley, where he set up their performance programme. In 2006 he began working at Islington Tennis Centre as Head Coach and Head of Performance coaching.

Neil’s role will be as Director of Tennis and he will oversee all aspects of tennis at Hazelwood Sports Club and liaise with the committee, coaches and team captains in this respect. He is also intent on lifting our social tennis programme with immediate effect.

We look forward to a long and productive friendship between Neil, his family and Hazelwood Sports Club.
